Mindfulness and regulating your own stress is under the microscope at St. Joseph’s School in Dryden.
Teacher Tiffany Goulet is currently learning more about the importance of regulating stress and meditation for students.
Last year they applied for the project and received $30 000 to study the importance of Mindfulness and Self-Regulation in the classroom.
One of the focuses was also looking at the effects of giving 15 minutes of meditation before class in order to manage stress levels throughout the day.
Goulet says Self-Regulation is very important for adults as well as they need to be calm themselves in order to be able to calm students as well.
She says they also use mindfulness as a way to prevent stress as well as know how to respond to stress.
There will be a parent book study on the topic in January at St. Joseph’s School for parents who wish to know more.
