A long time coming for Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.
That’s what Chief Erwin Redsky calls a new report by the International Joint Commission stating Winnipeg may not be properly compensating the community for the aqueduct in the area.
Redsky says he’s hopeful that progress on compensation can be made with the newly elected mayor and council in Winnipeg.
The aqueduct turns the community into an isolated island during the summer months as no all season bridge has ever been constructed.
The report was sent to the federal governments in Canada and the United States and was also copied to Winnipeg.
