Queen Elizabeth District High School in Sioux Lookout are releasing a music video that highlights Truth and Reconcilliation.
The song is called Feather The Flame and will be shown at the school at 7pm on Saturday.
Spokesperson Marc-Nicholas Martin-Paulichenko mentions the main goal of the project is “to bring First Nations and non-First Nations peoples together to explore this important topic and bring change to Sioux Lookout and beyond.”
He also says the Truth and Reconcilliation Committee in Sioux Lookout is excited for the project and Mayor Doug Lawrence will give a welcome at the event.
The music video features 12 youth from 10 different First Nations and non-First Nations communities, including: Big Trout, Nipigon, Hudson, Slate Falls, Cat Lake, Wunnimin, Lac Seul, Kasabonika, Wapakeka, Hudson and Sioux Lookout.
The gathering will have live music performances, a display of the project’s artwork, photos, and a behind the scenes documentary of the project as well.
Snacks will be provided and admission is free.
The project was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts for Canada’s 150th birthday.
