National Drowning Prevention Week Being Recognized In Red Lake

National Drowning Prevention Weeks starts today and Red Lake is prepared.

Spokesperson from the Goldcorp Recreation Centre Gwyneth Carlson says people should expect to see events take place such as many free open swims and swimming workshops.

She says open swims will be taking place as well as a water sports fun night.

Carlson also says they'll be at local beaches today to talk to people about keeping safe in the water.

Prizes can be won too!

Thursday, July 20

5:00pm—SWIM TO SURVIVE (Never been a strong swimmer? Unsure
if you have the skills to survive in the water? We can teach you what to do!
This is a FREE family-friendly event and everyone is welcome.)

6:00pm—DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A LIFEGUARD?
(We will put you to the test, in some fun, family-friendly life saving drills).

7:00pm—FREE OPEN SWIM
Friday, July 21

5:00pm—FREE OPEN SWIM

6:30pm—WATER SPORTS FUN NIGHT (under water hockey, water
polo, swim sports, etc.—and its FREE)

Saturday, July 22—Visit our booth at Norseman Days for our Life Jacket
clinic and tips on how to stay safe on the water this summer!
