The Northwestern Health Unit deficit has now climbed to more than $210,000 for the current fiscal year.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Pete Sarsfield says the unexpected second hand smoke court case has cost $125,000 to date.
Sarsfield says that amount has been taken out of reserves, and he is expecting the Province to match the money taken from the slush fund.
To date, the Health Unit is only running 78% of mandated programs.
The tobacco hearings are expected to finally wrap up next week in Toronto.
