It’s been a slow start to the forest fire season, but the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is now dealing with a couple of fires.
Both are small and burning in the Red Lake District.
The two are not under control, but aren’t expected to pose any problems.
The fire hazard is moderate to high in the Red Lake and Fort Frances Districts.
It’s low across the rest of the region.
The MNRF is still urging caution with camp fires over the Victoria Day holiday.
Officials stress a fire can easily start at any time, even in damp conditions.
They note if a fire gets out of control, the individual responsible will have to foot the bill to put it out.
