Just in time for the last long weekend in the Summer of ’03, the MNR has lifted the Restricted Fire Zone imposed last week across much of NWO.
As of Midnight Wednesday the ban on open fires will be taken off meaning campers heading to the bush can roast marshmellows over the open flames.
Officials ask everyone to be careful & make SURE all fires are totally out before leaving the campsite, even for a few hours.
Now that the RFZ has been lifted, more fire crews are being sent to British Columbia.
60 Fire Rangers and 6 Supervisors are scheduled to leave today joining some 240 Ontario personel already on the ground there.
Officials say by the weekend, 800 Provincial MNR staff will have been sent over the summer to assist with the wildfires in B.C.
