Aboriginal groups are applauding the federal government for increasing funding for first nation police services.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale announced another 189 million dollars over the next five years.
That's on top of 102 million promised in the last federal budget.
Grand Chief of the Nishinabe Aski Nation, Alvin Fiddler says he's encouraged the federal government is committed to helping first nation police services become fully designated.
He adds that the funding will help to increase the safety and security of community members and officers.
