The Special Investigations Unit is absolving a Provincial Police officer in Nipigon in the shooting death of a 45-year-old man in that community.
The incident took place in November of 2016, when police were called to a home by a person who wanted a man removed.
The SIU probe revealed at first the man came out of the residence with a knife and was tasered by police.
The man then returned inside only to charge out a second time with a knife and was shot by police and later pronounced dead.
The director of the SIU ruled the officer was justified in firing his weapon in order to thwart a knife attack and therefore will not be charged.
