Dryden Firefighters attended two residential family home incidents on Sunday.
Both incidents could have had serious consequence and loss, but both residents acted quick and called for assistance.
In the morning, a St. Charles St. residence had an exterior electrical plug catch on fire, with smoke entering the home through the wall.
The resident had turned the power off and used a portable fire extinguisher on the fire in the siding and insulation.
In the evening, the Fire Service responded to a Carbon Monoxide alarm sounding at a Thunder Drive residence.
Dryden Firefighters found high CO level in the home, the gas furnace was shut down and the home was ventilated with outside air.
Fire Chief Ken Kurz says a working Carbon Monoxide alarm is credited with saving the family from serious illness.
