Public feedback is now being accepted on proposed changes to the provincial bait fish management plan.
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters believes there are too many restrictions with some of the policies dealing with invasive species.
Fisheries Biologist Tom Brooke says they support the idea of the proposal but not a lot of the key details.
The new policy would introduce bait fish management zones and new rules on moving bait fish between these zones.
Brooke believes the supply and demand that exists now will be impacted, because harvesters and dealers will have to change where they are getting their bait from.
He notes another proposal is to ban the use of live bait in provincial parks.
The ultimate goal is stopping the transfer of invasive species.
Online feedback will be accepted until June 27th.
