Some 150 instructors at Confederation College are now on strike.
The province-wide job action comes after contract talks between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union and the College Employer Council failed to reach a deal over the weekend.
Local union head Rebecca Ward says they want to support the part time employees who are overworked.
Ward says they have roughly 300 underpaid part time instructors at Confederation College who have no job security and unmanageable work loads.
Ward stresses they aren’t fighting for money but they are fighting for the delivery of quality education.
She says it’s unfair that the Council hasn’t been willing to negotiate with teachers.
Distance education programming at regional Confederation campuses are impacted as a result.
No new talks are scheduled between the two sides.
