Twelve Metis youth have left Ottawa for a 2,200 kilometer canoe trek to Kenora.
The trip is expected to take 100 days to complete and the youth will be following the historic fur trade routes taken by their ancestors.
The participants received extensive training at the Fort William Historical Park in advance of their journey.
The expedition is intended to provide learning opportunities for the youth.
And so it begins! Our 12 #Metis youth ambassadors are getting ready to begin their journey from Ottawa to Kenora. #MNOexpedition #Metis150 pic.twitter.com/KCuIPA6PFU
