Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says the Liberal budget doesn’t do a single thing for Northern Ontario.
Horwath claims the government took out its $1-billion commitment for the Ring of Fire and did nothing to address Rural and Northern school closures.
She notes the government is making some small strides to fix the Northern Travel Grant, but stresses it’s not close to fixing the inequities of health care in our region.
She adds Premier Kathleen Wynne completely ignored the voices of Ontarians.
Horwath says the fiscal document falls short of the mark and gives every day residents no hope for the future.
Horwath is also slamming the Liberal pharmacare plan to cover prescription drug costs for anyone under the age of 24, noting they released a pledge earlier this week providing coverage across the entire board for all age groups.
She mentions 1 out of 3 Ontarians don’t have a workplace benefit plan and 1 out 4 don’t acting on getting their prescription or cut their pills to make them last.
