The provincial government is trying to defend yet another increase in hydro rates.
Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli says electricity costs will be going up Saturday, but the increase is less than they had initially forecast.
Chiarelli notes the rate will be up 2.3-cents a kilowatt hour per the average household.
Conservative MPP John Yakabuski is demanding the Liberal government reverse its energy policy, which has been driving up electricity costs.
Yakabuski says the new rate will be up to 14-cents a kilowatt hour.
He notes hydro rates have tripled since the Liberals took power in 2003.
