The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is currently collecting information on fish species, taking water samples and checking for invasive species on Abram, Pelican and Botsford Lake's in the Sioux Lookout area.
Senior Biologist Kim Armstrong says they are assessing the health and status of the fish population on those lakes.
Armstrong says the on-the-water monitoring program will help determine whether the fish population is improving, declining or staying stable and why those trends are occurring.
He advises the public to be aware of clearly visible orange buoys in the water and asks everyone to steer their boats away from the markers and netting.
The data collected will help guide and determine future fish management planning.
