A number of local residents have already converged on Kenora for Hockey Day in Canada celebrations.

It was a full house Thursday night for the NHL Alumni Game, where Team Lanny McDonald won the offensive battle 10-5 over Team Darcy Tucker.

Ron McLean scored the game's first goal and says he participates in these events because he loves interacting with the kids.

11-year-old Dawson Lentz also got his name on the score sheet scoring a goal and adding two assists, playing on a line with Kenora's Mike Richards and Lanny McDonald.

McLean also met with members of the Kenora Thistles Midget Hockey team earlier in the day, including Dryden's Graham Oliphant and Matthew Pitchenese.

Friday, the Stanley Cup will make appearances at Pope John Paul School and Pinecrest Home for the Aged, and there will be hockey clinics put on by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Winnipeg Jets at the Keewatin Arena.
