A state-of-the-art weather system is scheduled to be constructed in Dryden.
The Doppler Radar System will quickly and precisely detect severe winter and summer weather across Sunset Country.
Steve Lapczak, Director of the National Radar Project says the system will be constructed off Hoey Road near Highway 601, and should be completed in Summer 2003.
Health concerns have been raised from residents around the proposed site, however Lapczak stresses the radar system poses no health risks, and has been approved by Health Canada.
A total of 31 radar sites are either being constructed or improved across the country.
The total cost of the Environment Canada project is 34.9-million dollars.
