A plan to help kick-start economic development in northern Ontario is part of a new federal government plan.
Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains says part of the so-called growth strategy is to help entrepreneurs get businesses off the ground.
Bains says the government is making contributions to encourage companies to invest in the north and start a new business.
Bains says the plan also includes a goal of attracting more immigrants to the region.
He says the focus is on innovation, communities and talent as well as retaining northerners in good paying jobs.
