The Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop is mourning the loss of Whitedog First Nations author Richard Wagamese.
Wagamese died at his home in B.C. on the weekend.
Workshop President Jane Crossman says his novel Indian Horse affected her more than any she’s ever read.
Crossman adds the region, Canada and the world has lost a remarkable author, journalist and human being.
Wagamese was honoured in 2015 for outstanding contributions to the literature of Northwestern Ontario.
