Local kids needing critical care now have a place to call home.
The doors have opened on the Canadian Shrine Hospital in Montreal, the only one of its kind in Canada.
Dryden Shriners Spokesperson Andrew Skene attended the grand opening and stated it’s an eight floor, state-of-the-art facility.
The $130-million hospital is attached to the McGill University Children’s Hospital.
Skene says the facility has four operating rooms and the ambulatory care unit has increased three-fold.
He adds the hospital has 29,000 square feet for research and 13,000 square feet devoted to rehab services.
The amount of space at the new facility is more than double the size of the old location, with twice as many operating rooms.
Skene says there is one patient from Dryden currently receiving care at the hospital.
