A survey shows young people in Northwestern Ontario have higher drug use rates than youth in Southern Ontario.
The survey, by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, shows an increase from a similar study four years ago.
However, pollster Lee Sieswerda says there is one bright spot.
He says first time drug use among youth in this region, which includes smoking and alcohol, has actually dropped from the last survey.
The use of hard drugs like cocaine, speed and PCP has also dropped in the Northwest.
