The Ford government continues its attack on the federal carbon tax.
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones pegs the cost to the Provincial Police alone at $3.4-million by 2022 in order to heat OPP detachments and gas up cruisers.
Jones says “this is hard earned taxpayers money that could have been used to keep our families safe, stand-up for victims and hold criminals accountable for their actions.”
She the carbon tax equates to “nearly 24,000 life saving Naloxine kits, 6,300 bullet proof vests that protect our officers on the front line or 98 drug testing devices to keep our roads safe.”
Jones says similar costs will have devastating impacts on correctional services and municipal fire departments.
The province continues to argue its case against the carbon tax in the courts.
The OPP are not Ontario’s Primary Polluters. Unfortunately, that’s how the Liberal carbon tax treats them. This tax drains resources from frontline responders that should be spent on security for the people. Pleased to fight the carbon tax w/ @RudyCuzzetto & @RodPhillips01. pic.twitter.com/yZY9eb3Zhm
