The Canadian Red Cross, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the City of Dryden have once again partnered to help municipalities with disaster management.
The 5th Northwest Response Forum starts Tuesday at the Centre.
The theme this year is “Community in Crisis: Risks, Resources and Reality”.
Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the three day conference is aimed at helping municipalities prepare and recover from an emergency.
Kurz says there will be emergency management representation from across Ontario, northern Minnesota, Manitoba and Alberta.
He stresses an organized approach is needed in any emergency situation and experts will be on hand to provide advice.
One of the highlights of the gathering is a panel discussion on the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire.
Other speakers include Ontario’s Director of Emergency Management and the Director of Disaster Management with the Canadian Red Cross.
