Nishnawbe Aski Nation has signed a new Treaty Relationship Agreement with the province.
In a statement, Premier Kathleen Wynne claims it will pave the way for more meaningful discussions on issues like health, education, and economic development.
She adds that Ontario continues to build its relationships with Indigenous communities hundreds of years after the first treaties were signed.
NAN Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler notes he’s glad that the document recognizes their 49 communities and the province as equal partners.
He feels that recognition will ensure a good future for NAN’s communities. (File Photo)
