It was a very active Sunday on the forest fire front across northwestern Ontario.
23 new fires sparked in the Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Kenora districts.
Nine of the blazes ignited in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park as well as the Whiskeyjack Forest area.
Two fires have now burned into one near Summer Beaver and the blaze is now listed at 23,000 hectares in size.
The remote community isn’t threatened by the fire at this time.
There are 78 active fires burning, 19 listed as not under control.
