The Ministry of Natural Resources has completed a prescribed burn in the Sioux Lookout and Dryden district.
A total of 3,300 hectares was ignited and is now being monitored.
The program was aimed at reducing combustible material and creating more planting sites for trees.
It will also help reduce the forest fire hazard in the area.
Meantime, operations are quickly winding down for the MNR.
The forest fire hazard is low to moderate but will rise a bit Saturday and Sunday.
There were two new fires reported this past week.
One was in the Sioux Lookout district, while the other one sparked in the Kenora area.
