The Northwestern Health Unit continues its campaign for a smoke free bylaw in local communities, and they say the numbers are on their side.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield, Medical Officer of Health says a return rate of well over 20-per cent in a recent postcard blitz shows the public wants municipal councils to consider a smoke free bylaw.
The Health Unit says the highest postcard return rate was in Dryden at just over 27-per cent.
Meantime, The Health Unit will meet with municipal councils in Dryden and Red Lake at their next council meetings to discuss the issue.
Red Lake Mayor Dunc Wilson says the issue hasn’t been discussed but he strongly believes the decision should be made by both the Federal and Provincial governments.
