June 20, 1956 – January 2, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vern Lefort on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Dryden General Hospital. He was 60 yrs old.
Vern was predeceased by his mother Rose Harvey (nee Gooselin), his father Albert Lefort, his brother-in-law: Jim Kavanaugh.
Vern is survived by his wife: Joanne Lefort; his children: Lawrence Lefort (Kara), Wyanita Lefort (Johann), and Brayden Lefort; his grandchildren: Elijah, Tristen, Daniella, Ashton, Madelynn, Isabella, Johann Jr, Dennis, and Freya; his sister, Eileen Gardner; his brothers: Clifford Lefort (Patty) and Leonard Laforte ; his sister-in-law: Patsy Kavanaugh; his brother-in-laws: Gerald Kavanaugh, Bob Kavanaugh; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Born and raised in north western Ontario; Vern grew up with the love of the wilderness and fishing. Vern could tell you everything about fishing, survival in the woods, and all the best places to fish or relax on the Lake. Vern was a friendly person with a loving, caring, and generous personality. He had a smile and laugh that could light up the room, and a sense of humour that could make anyone laugh. Vern enjoyed talking and visiting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed making new friends and he wasn’t shy to engage in conversations; this was an awesome quality he came by very naturally. Anyone that was lucky enough to know Vern would say he was a good man with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors of the Dryden General Hospital for providing loving care during his final days.
