Maxine Elaine Turpin
August 18, 2017 – July 29, 1936
In loving memory of Maxine Elaine Turpin (nee Upton) age 81 years, who passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on August 18th, 2017, in her residence at Princess Court Long Term Care with her family by her side.
Maxine is survived by her children; Lee-Ette Brouse (Terry), Marcel Turpin Jr. (Marilyn), Daniel Turpin (Florette), Bryan Turpin (Denyse), Micheline Nolet (Denis), Jocelyn Betcher (Dan), sister; Lee-Ette Dunn, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by infant son; Randy, parents; Milo and Ethel Upton, father of children Marcel Turpin, and brother; Tyrone Upton.
Maxine was born in Dryden, Ontario and lived most of her life here. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bragging about them to whoever would listen. She was employed for a number of years by the Dryden and District School Board as a custodian. She loved to dance and would dance at any opportunity. She was a great cook. We remember some great lasagnas, cabbage rolls and potato salad among other things. As many family and friends would attest to, she loved to talk on the phone, often talking for hours.
Her hobbies included reading, gardening in her younger years, camping and swimming. We miss the way she was, because for the past 10 plus years, dementia slowly robbed Mom of every living function. May you rest in peace Mom, we are glad your suffering is finally over.
The family would like to thank the staff at Princess Court for caring for Mom all these years, and a huge thank you to our sister Micheline for countless hours spent with mom, often daily and for being Mom’s advocate, ensuring she had the best care for these past 10 plus years. Words can’t express how much this was appreciated.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Memorial service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel with Reverend Erin McIntyre-Garrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON, P8N 2X3.
