In Loving Memory of Leopold Turbide.
Leopold Turbide was born in Lac-au-Saumon, Quebec on November 28, 1923. Moving to Northwestern Ontario he settled in Dryden with his family 45 years ago. Leopold was employed by the Dryden Paper Co., Reed Paper Co., Great Lakes Paper and Abitibi Paper Co., as a woodcutter. Having a variety of favorite past times he loved fishing, hunting, camping with his family and picking blueberries with his beloved wife Monique.
Leopold passed away peacefully into God’s hands, surrounded by his family on April 22, 2002 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. He was predeceased by his parents Elzear and Bertha Turbide, his sister Yvette Cyr, and brother Rodrigue. Leopold is survived by his loving wife Monique, children Regent (Jamie) of Dryden, Real of Thunder Bay, Eloi (Flo) of Dryden, Lise of Dryden, Norman (Cathy) of Oakville, Lyne of Dryden, and Richard (Lee) of Kelowna, B.C. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Tanya Turbide, Gerald, Gaetan and Angele Bibeau, Brandon and Chelsea-Lee Turbide, Joey and Sabrina Lachapelle; Great-grandchildren Kayne, Haven, Zander and Taya Turbide-White, Stephen Greaves and Brayden and Kayden Hewlin. He is also survived by 3 brothers Raynald (Dottie) of Hudson, Florida, Laureat (Laurette) of Welland, Ontario, and Gilbert (Annette) of St. Donat, Quebec. Also surviving him are 2 sisters Gisele (Marc-Aurele Verreault) of Welland, Ontario, and Marie-Berthe (Andre Bourgeois) of Gatineau, Quebec. Leopold will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grand-children and great-grandchildren, his extended family and friends. His laughter and twinkle in his eyes will be missed but never forgotten.
Visitation for the late Mr. Leopold Turbide will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2002 from 2-8 p.m. with prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Luigi Filippini officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
