It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leo Bruyere, age 84, of Vermilion Bay, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his children at his side.
Leo is survived by his children: Norbert (Rose) Bruyere, Josie (Andy) Klatt, and Jenn (Chris) Kennard along with his grandchildren Kaylah and Michelle, Ami and Ashley, and Damian and Zack.
Leo had a great love for both his children, and his grandchildren; teasing them all endlessly in one way or another. He was very proud of all their accomplishments and never failed to let those people around him know how proud he was.
Leo was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and “scouting.” There wasn’t a lake in the North that he hadn’t fished in, knew of, or had a story about, which made him one of the greatest guides, and story-tellers around.
Leo also held a special place in his heart for his friends, many of which were considered no less than extended family to himself and to his children.
A special thank you to Dr. Cortens for his many years of devoted care, as well as Laura Block and Natalie Legros. Also to the entire health team at Dryden Regional Health Centre.
There will be a celebration of his life at the Vermilion Bay Lions Hall on Saturday, April 29th, 2017, at 2:00pm.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private internment of ashes for the family at a later date.
If friends desire donations may be made to DRHC Palliative Care online or through the Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1.
