James (Jim) Woitowicz
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jim Woitowicz announces his sudden passing on October 17th, 2017.
Jim was born on July 5th, 1938 in Dryden, Ontario to Maria (Chaschowy) and Alexander Woitowicz. He was the eleventh child of twelve.
Being one of the youngest, Jim hung out at an early age with his older brother Joe, learning the ropes to the wood haul. He also worked at the pond, in finishing and on the bark pile of the Dryden Mill. But, the bush and the outdoors kept calling him. This was when Jim decided to venture out on his own and started cutting and hauling wood until his little machines couldn’t keep up with the changing times. He then went to work for Hoey & McMillan Construction until he retired.
Jim was a private person. His motto being: always keep your eyes open, mouth shut and just be there. He was a friend to everyone. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved to make people smile with his kind teasing and joking around. His greatest joy was getting together with his families, kidding around and telling stories on each other. His pride and joys were all of his grand kids, as he was so proud of every single one of them. He enjoyed spending time with them, endured being served many concoctions made with love from the outside mud kitchen. Jim spent endless hours feeding and taming all the wildlife in his back yard. He couldn’t go outside without one of his little chipmunks crawling up his leg or his deer coming to the door to let him know they wanted food. He also enjoyed times spent with his coffee crew and volunteering with the Agricultural Society.
Jim was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by; his wife, Sherillee (Sheri), his daughter, Dawn Marie (Scott) and his son, Douglas (Christy), as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by; his brother Paul (Shirley), sisters, Helen, Jessie and Pauline (Bob), as well as several sisters and brothers-in-law.
Following Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation and interment of ashes have already taken place.
