         <title>Steven Spalding</title>
         <link>http://ckdr.net/inmemoriam/index.php#0000012443</link>
				 <author>Carol</author>
<description>&lt;img src=&quot;StevenSpalding.jpg&quot; style=&quot;float:left&quot; /&gt;Steven Jason Spalding was born in Dryden, Ontario on November 17th, 1971.

He is survived by the love of his life Laurie McIvor and their two children Jaxon and Josiah Spalding. He is also survived by his parents Linda and Rod Spalding, his brother Darcy (Patti) and their two children Laura and Mason. He is also survived by his grandmother Eileen Spalding, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Extended family Kathy and Brian McIvor, Cheryl (Steven Edwards) and their daughter Aly, Brian McIvor Jr. (Peggy) and their children Jada, Emma and Cade as well as many other members of Laurie’s family. He was predeceased by his son Matthew in April 2008 and his grandfather, James Spalding, in 2006.

Steve was born in Dryden and raised on Keller Road and at a very early age showed his love for the outdoors. He attended Oxdrift Public School and then Dryden High School. Steve was very active in fastball and judo and loved playing the games as well as being with friends until a knee injury sidelined him from these sports. Hunting and fishing was a huge part of his life and we always joked that Steve had anything that was ever made when it came to these sports.

His working career took him out west to Lloydminster then back to Dryden where he joined the Union Gas team. He then left Dryden for Orillia where he spent four years and from there his work took him to Chatham. After almost two years in Chatham, the call of the north brought him back to Kenora and last June finally back home to Dryden.

In 2002, Laurie and Steve started their life together. They had been friends for many years but now the bond had become too strong to got heir own ways any longer. Jaxon was brought into the world in December 2003 and it was at that point that the call of the north started pulling at Steve to come home to family and friends.

Steve’s life back here was full of family, hunting, fishing and their home. Now that he has gone on to his next journey he will be missed but never forgotten. Steve truly enjoyed his time here on earth.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Dryden Agricultural Centre and interment followed at the Oxdrift Cemetery.

Should friends desire, donations may be made to the charity of your choice through the Stevens Funeral Homes &quot;Moffat Chapel&quot;, P.O. Box 412 Dryden P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject line: Spalding

Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject: Spalding</description>
