It took well into the third period but the the first goal was the winner as the Dryden Ice Dogs won 2-0 over the Borderland Thunder in Dryden tonight. Jay Samsal rifled a shot just over the blue line that bounced off the top of the Thunder’s Dan Hoene’s pads to break the scoreless tie. Joel Poshtar would bank one of the goalie to add an insurance marker with less than 3 minutes to play to seal the victory. Breton Lindoff was outstanding in net for the Dogs making 40 saves for the shut. The win gives the Ice Dogs an 1-0 lead in the best of seven semi finals series. Game 2 is set for Saturday night in the “Dog Pound” The puck drops at 8:00 p.m. anmd CKDR wil have all the action beginning at 7:45 p.m.
