In loving memory of Hilda Turgeon who entered the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, October 17th 2017, just 10 days short of her 99th birthday, passing away at home with family by her side.
She is survived by daughters Hazel McMillan, Shirley (Rheal) Turpin, daughter–in–law Anna Mae Turgeon – all of Dryden and son Edward (Norah) Turgeon of Duncan, B.C., by 9 Grandchildren and their families, including great and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers and 1 sister and many nieces and nephews.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Ralph Turgeon, son Joe Turgeon, son-in-law Hugh McMillan, by 5 sisters and nephews.
Mom was born in Birch Hills, SK to John and Inger Stensrud.
A few years after she and dad were married, they moved from Saskatchewan to Ontario and raised their family on the homestead in Dinorwic.
Mom was dads “right hand man” throughout their 67 years of marriage, working alongside him in all aspects of farming both in the fields and with the animals. She was also busy with hunting and trapping and hosting the many visitors who came to the farm to hunt and fish.
Mom really loved fishing, especially if she caught more than dad, as that was always an on-going competition between them. Her ready sense of humour enabled her to see the funny side of life.
As a family we would like to express our deep appreciation to our sister Hazel for the many years she spent caring for both mom and dad. We are also very grateful to Andrea Emisch, Doris Skillen and the home care ladies for their invaluable assistance with mom during her closing days. As well our thanks go to the Mavens of Vermillion Bay for the lovely comfort blanket given to mom.
