With great sorrow the family of Helen Savage announce her sudden passing March 28th at the Dryden Regional Health Center.
Helen was born April 17th, 1937 in Clanwilliam, Manitoba to Mary and Mike Iwasiuk.
Helen was the fifth of seven children: Peter, Irene (Frank Shandalla), Walter (Donna), Bill (Adrienne), Marge (John Gregorash) and Frankie. Helen was her father’s helper, learning to build and fix things around the farm.
She met Gary Savage where they both worked at the Safeway Store in Kenora, later moving to work at the Dryden Safeway Store.
They married in 1960 and had three daughters: Karen (Greg Allan), Laurie (Mark Millions), and Debbie (Mark Clearwater). They purchased Savage’s Grocery Store from Gary’s Uncle Roy Savage and ran a butcher shop and small family store.
Helen loved to play cards: cribbage, Kaiser, euchre. She became a quick learner on computers and loved to play cards online with friends and family far away. She loved sending jokes via email, and if they were really good, would send them to you again.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, brothers Frankie and Walter, and husband Gary. Helen is survived by her daughters and grandchildren: Samantha Allan, Vanessa and Breanna Millions.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will be held Easter Weekend.
