Gordon Henry Monty
Jan. 3 1943 – Dec. 24 2016
It is with very great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Henry Monty, age 73, who passed away at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Friday, December 24, with family by his side.
Gordon is survived by; his loving wife Elizabeth, and their children Tammy (Allan) Lang, Robert (Donnalee) Monty and Angela (Darren) Monty/Chesky, precious grandchildren; Ashley (Nathan), Tyler, Travis, Lang, Justin (Telisha, Layla, Laker,) Carl, and Alexa Chesky, sister Dorothy Smith, brother Edward Monty and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents Robert & Martha Monty, sister Elsie Rolston, and brother Oscar Monty.
Gordon was born in Dryden, and lived his entire life in Vermilion Bay.
Nothing was more important to Gordon than his family. This was a man who put his love for his family, friends and his job, above all else.
Gordon’s greatest hobbies were, spending time with his family and friends and helping host many family functions. He also loved chatting and reminiscing with his old co-workers.
He greeted each day with a bright smile and he always lent a hand to those who needed it. If you had a problem, he would always find the answer. He was the very best of everything you could ever hope for in a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Gordon worked for Raleigh Falls Timber as a Grapple skidder operator and he looked upon his fellow workers over the years as his extended family. Gordon, at the age of 73, was still working. His last day of work was Aug 27, 2016, the day he was forced to take time off to start his cancer treatment in Thunder Bay. He was determined and had always planned on returning to work. He always made of point of telling the Drs. He was only on “vacation”.
Gordon was a kind-hearted and generous person who holds a special place in so many hearts. He will live on through the memories of everyone he has touched with his love. He will be sadly missed.
Funeral services for Gordon will be held on Saturday, December 31st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel.
Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
