Peacefully with his family by his side Glenn Bruce Ovenstone passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 3rd after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Glenn was born November 25th, 1953 in Dryden, ON. He was the second youngest of 4 born to Lilian and John Ovenstone.

Glenn grew up in Dinorwic, ON and was an avid outdoorsman. He spent countless hours in the bush, hunting, trapping, fishing and camping.

In 1977 Glenn married the love of his life Kathy and a couple years later added two sons, Trevor and Justin to their family.

Glenn started work at the Dryden Pulp and Paper mill in 1976. During this time Glenn enjoyed the outdoors, GLAA baseball and of course his family. He retired from the mill in 2008.

Glenn was involved with the Dryden Rifle Pistol Club and was a range instructor in his day. Anyone and everyone that knew Glenn knew his sense of humor was second to none and if there was a prank to be pulled he was behind it. Glenn had a way with animals and he was always seen with a well trained canine companion.

Glenn enjoyed his retirement to the fullest and in the last couple of years had the honor of becoming a grandpa to 2 darling children, Ronan and Emmalie. You couldn’t find a prouder poppa. In this process he gained a daughter he never had, Sarah.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents Lilian and John Ovenstone, his grandmother Stephanie Ovenstone and nephew Jason Ovenstone.

He is survived by his family who loves him dearly, his wife of 40 years Kathy, sons Trevor and Justin (Sarah), grandchildren Ronan and Emmalie, brothers Bill (Marlene), Jimmy (Brenda), sister Barb (Ken), as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his trusty canine companion Sadie.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday October 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Wabigoon Memorial Hall. Bring a story to share.

If friends so desire donations may be made to the Tamarac House though Stevens Funeral Homes P.O Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1.
