In loving memory of Gerry Meyer, age 90, who passed away peacefully at Princess Court, Dryden on Thursday, October 13.
Gerry was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and emigrated to Canada with his young family in 1953.
Gerry was an accomplished flautist, playing professionally in Europe, with the Canadian Army Band, and served time overseas during the Korean War. Later he played with the Symphony Orchestra and numerous recitals in London, Ontario. He was also a flute instructor at the University of Western Ontario.
Art was a large part of Gerry’s life, mainly painting watercolour landscapes. He was an avid reader of philosophy books. Gerry was a lover of the north country, and wildlife. He treasured all the dogs he owned over the years.
Gerry is survived by his daughter Annemarie Roberts (Keith) of Dryden, his son Maarten Meyer (Christine) of Long Point ON, three grandsons; Ryan (Laura), Graham (Blaire) Kent (Hailey), all of Dryden, as well as four great grandchildren.
Gerry was predeceased by his wife Anje, and his brother Rudi.
A Private Family Celebration of Life and interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
