In loving memory of George Kenneth Rowat, age 89 of Dryden who passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, January 23, 2002. George was born in Dryden on July 21, 1912. George was raised in Dryden and attended school at Britton. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, storyteller, card player, a good friend – he was a man’s man. George was a former camp foreman for Dryden Paper, and then later became a prominent local businessman at New Dryden Lumber. He was a member of the Rotary and was the Mayor of Dryden for 11 years. George found faith in Jehovah in later years. He was well known and liked by many. George was predeceased by his wife Winnifred Rowat in December 1993. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jack Rowat, and by his sisters Dorothy McMillan, Mossie Johnston, and Mary Thompson, and a great grandson Brandon. George is survived by his sons Mac (Carol) of Dryden, Chuck (Sally) of Dryden, Derek (Joanne) of Prince George, B.C., and Russ (Linda) of Dryden, and daughter Carolyn of Bonanza, B.C. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will forever be lovingly remembered by his children and their families. A Visitation was held on Sunday, January 27, 2002 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Monday, January 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Mr. Tom Reid officiating. Cremation followed.
