Northwestern Ontario’s ‘Rent Bank’ will be a little bit richer thanks to the Provincial Government.
The Kenora District Services Board has received just over $18,000 for their rent bank.
The program is for low income families in the region that have fallen behind on their rent and face eviction.
Ontario Works Director Dianne Apland says the recession has led to an increase in residents applying for funds.
Apland notes to apply you must have proof that you are close to being evicted, and how much money you need to pay your rent.
