Students at Red Lake High School learned a lot about healthy eating this school year.
A food and nutrition program was introduced for the first time.
Instructor Darrin Bausch says the program was inspired after he learned a number of students didn’t know where their food was coming from or why they were eating what they were eating.
Bausch says he tried to teach students the value in terms of social, physical, mental health and academic success.
The course included outdoor gardening and composting.
There was also a entrepreneur component to the course as students were able to sell plants, and launch an in-school smoothie program.
