There is no surprise in the announcement of this years SIJHL Most Valuable Player.
Braeden Allkins of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs had a record breaking year and led the league in goals with 53 and points with 97.
Both were new Dryden franchise records and his 53-goals were the second most in all of Canadian Junior Hockey.
The 20-year-old was also tops in the SIJHL in power-play markers and game-winning goals and he was tied for first in shorthanded goals.
He joins Cole Golka and Jon Mitchell as Ice Dogs players to win the award.
Allkins is now a nominee for the CJHL Player of the Year Award.
The native of Golden, B.C. beat out Jared Virtanen of the Fort Frances Lakers and Nicholas Nigro of the Thunder Bay North Stars for the SIJHL honour.
