In loving memory of Bessie Adams (“Mama Bess”), age 83, who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Bessie is survived by her ten children, Thomas (Linda) Pencoff of Kenora, Maryanne O’Brien of Winnipeg, Lucille Michaud (Larry) of Kenora, Eleanor (Gilles) Vachon of Red Lake, Victor Cripps of Hamilton, Laura Cripps (Robert Gardner) of Migisi Sahgaigan, Richard Cripps of Toronto, Kenneth (Jeanne) Cripps of Migisi Sahgaigan, Carol (Clifford) Kavanaugh of Migisi Sahgaigan, and Hazel Cripps of Thunder Bay.
She had 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Bessie is also survived by her sisters, Mary Delyea and Margaret Napish and brother, Roy Napish of Migisi Sahgaigan.
She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as, sister-in-laws, Evelyn Mercier and Vicky Dowswell, both of Prince George, BC. Bessie was predeceased by her parents, Suzay Adams and Laura Napish (Singleton), sisters, Isabel and Cecilia and brothers, Tony Adams, Wilfred Napish, Robert Napish; her nephew, Joseph Gardner who was also like a brother to her and two grandsons, Patrick Paul Cripps and Thomas Richard Cripps.
Bessie’s youngest six children would like to acknowledge her marriage to their late father, Dalton Cripps of Dryden, and their continued friendship throughout the years. She was known for her humour, her love of bingo and visiting and sharing her stories with family and friends. Many times she recounted stories of blueberry picking with her sister Cecilia, brother Wilfred and time spent with her childhood friends Rosalie Lands and Catherine Kelly.
Bessie will be fondly remembered for her kindness, caring and love for others.
Bessie’s family thanks Bob Savage and staff of the Dryden Community Funeral Home, St. Boniface Hospital, Dryden Regional Health Centre, Dryden Full Gospel Church and Eagle Lake First Nation for their compassion, kindness and respect shown during this difficult time.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Eagle Lake Community Hall until time of service.
A traditional service will begin on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 12:00 pm with Elder Robert Kelly and Pastor Velma Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Eagle Lake Cemetery.
